Dear Candidate for the West Virginia Legislature:

Congratulations on your success in the 2024 Primary Election and thank you for raising your hand to step into public service in West Virginia.  On behalf of the over 40,000 nurses in West Virginia, we would like to invite you to take part in our 2024 candidate endorsement process. During our endorsement process, the West Virginia Nurses Political Action Committee (WVNurses-PAC) candidate questionnaire will be reviewed to help us gain a better understanding of your platform and understanding of nursing in West Virginia.

As you know, health care issues are among the leading concerns of the citizens of West Virginia. As the political voice of the state’s over 40,000 nurses, the WVNurses-PAC seeks to ensure quality care, access to health care, and better health for all West Virginians.  We do represent a large population of West Virginia voters as one in every forty-three West Virginians is a nurse. If you wish to be considered for endorsement by the WVNurses-PAC, please consider taking our survey/questionnaire (currently being prepared and will be ready by June 5, 2024) so that it is received by the WVN-PAC no later than September 01, 2024.

As part of our endorsement process, candidate interviews may be conducted by WV Nurses Political Action Committee members or by representatives of various nursing groups in the state, including the West Virginia Nurses Association, The West Virginia Affiliate of the ACNM, West Virginia Association of School Nurses, West Virginia Organization of Nurse Leaders, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Midwives (APRNs/NPs, CNMs, CRNAs, CNSs), and/or directors of nursing education programs. If interviews are being conducted in your district, a representative will contact you soon to schedule an interview . Endorsements are scheduled to be announced by mid September 2024.

If you should have any questions, please contact the WV Nurses Political Action Committee Chair Eric Small or WVNA President Dr. Donte Newsom.  We will work with you or put you in contact with a nurse in your district.  We look forward to working with you in the legislature for the health of all West Virginians!

Sincerely,

Eric Small,

WV Nurses Political Action Committee
